Shopping is one of the most enjoyable activities most women enjoy. Men on the other hand appreciates shopping but prefer to just buy what they want unlike women who want to search the whole mall trying the goods they have seen before choosing and buying what they really want to buy. What makes shopping an enjoyable activity especially for women is that it gives them the chance to see the goods such as new clothes, accessories, bags and shoes without actually buying them. They enjoy looking at those new fashion statements and they find joy just by looking. This is sometimes called window shopping.

Some women also take shopping time as a time to bond with their girlfriends. Women go to the malls with their friends even though they would only buy landau nursing scrubs. When they are in the mall, they would just hang out in a coffee shop or a posh restaurant just to chat about each other’s lives. Sometimes they would fit a dress and ask the opinion of their friends. Also, some women prefer to go shopping alone so that they can have a communication with themselves. They go to the specialty shops to buy items on the sales rack or to the bookstore to find books that will nourish their souls. They prefer to be alone because they could look in one store without worrying that another is waiting for them.

It’s a well known fact that most men would rather watch sports, play computer games or head down to the local pub as opposed to going shopping. Many women on the other hand would pick shopping over all these activities. They may have battled in the courts to gain their rights and to have equality in the work place, but at home men and women still have very different interests. It’s true that not all women hate football and not all men hate shopping. However, just as most women will never understand the offside rule, most men will never understand shopping. Especially for Christmas Gifts.

Perhaps it’s something to do with genetic predisposition. As they say ‘men are from Mars and women are from Venus’. The most likely explanation, however, is our upbringings. Girls are dressed in pink, boys in blue. Girls usually accompany their mothers from shops to beauty parlours while boys follow their fathers from football matches to the pub. Come Christmas while the mothers take their daughters out shopping for Christmas Gifts, boys accompany their fathers to traditional sporting events. Therefore on Christmas Eve traditionally fathers are running around the shops in a mad search for those ideal Christmas Gifts. And, let’s be honest, they often get it wrong.

Men just seem to be inherently hopeless at shopping for those Christmas Gifts. Perhaps that’s why they hate it so much. They want the simplicity of walking into a shop, picking something up and heading home again. ‘Shouldn’t take more than five minutes tops!’ they say. But of course, when shopping for Christmas Gifts, that just doesn’t happen.

One of the only benefits of the current economic situation is that shops are thrusting exceptional discounts at us from all sides, their intention being to tempt us to part with our hard earned cash at every opportunity.  But how do we guarantee that any clothes we buy in the sales are not only good long-term investments but also that they are the right style and colour to make us look our best?

Before hitting the shops, the first thing you should do is review your clothes and accessories and make a list of exactly what you need to buy to fill any gaps in your wardrobe.  Secondly, set yourself a budget and try not to go over this, you could even budget per item if you felt this was useful.  If you know where you will be shopping, then making a list of shops you definitely want to visit should ensure that you make the best use of your shopping time.

Knowing which colours suit you best, the ones that give your face and skin an instant lift is vital since, when you know which your most flattering colours are, you will never again buy an item that finds itself sitting in the wardrobe unworn. The result of wearing your ideal colours is that you will not only be more confident but you will look younger and healthier too!

You know you need to put in the hours to run your Face Painting or Children’s Entertainment business effectively, especially if you intend at some stage to ‘give up your day job’, but your other commitments elsewhere are such a drain on your time. You may have the additional responsibility of keeping home and bringing up the kids (if you have them) and sometimes it can all get too much. Oh yeah, and then there’s your social life – social life I hear you say, what social life.

You need to set a discipline in the ever-feuding battle between ‘Organisation vs. Disorganisation’.

To become smartly organised and on top of your game in your Face Painting or Children’s Entertainment business you need to think about everything, and I mean everything, that your daily and weekly life throws at you and devise a structured time management plan to help you through.

Sit down in a quiet room and make a comprehensive list of everything, yes everything that you do daily, weekly and monthly. This is the basis for your time management plan.

Your list would need to include all eventualities such as:

Time to focus on your business

Time spent in your employment

Time to get ready and prepare for work

Time spent with your significant other

Time spent with your children

Time spent with your family
